CHRISTMAS DINNER WITH PEOPLE IN NEED PROJECT

DEFINITION
It is about an annual event that has as an aim to invite people in need of any age, to enjoy, at a table due ornamented, a delicious meal in Christmas Menu (objective to serve a thousand meals). The most important, bring the Word of GOD, the Gospel to every people in need (Mark 16:15). “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God”. (Matthew 4:4). At this opportunity to give Basic Medical Help, personal hygiene (nail cut, hair cut, clothes, etc.)

PROJECT OBJECTIVE
We all know that our fight is not against flesh or blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this word. (Ephesians 6:12) Our intention is to offer human heat, bring solidarity and care to those who find themselves into mendicancy, took by the feeling abandon and low self-steam, in major part of the cases, away from family this time of the year, when the midia focus is on affective relationships, gift changes, full tables, and bring them to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which is truly what they need.

SCHEDULE
The “Christmas Dinner with People in Need” happens every second Saturday of December, from 08:00 to 23:00h, with presentation on the stage from 14:00 to 20:00h.

EVENT PLACE
Praça Municipal de Salvador, at the parking in front of the Elevator Lacerda. The stage is built on the stairs of the Prefecture.
The central location and layout allow the operational synergy of great quantity of people, giving the guarantee of the volunteers’ activities realization and assistance to needy people.

PHYSICAL STRUCTURE – Materials donated by the Prefecture

o Awning Installation – 6 meters of stage (about the Mayor Office stairs) and 40 meters distributed in 10 strategic points (to working teams: hair cuts, clothes distribution and varies assistances).
o Table setting– with 70 meters of length, at the place where SUMAC is already familiar to;

o Light reinforcement around the place where the table will be located.

o Chemistry Toilets Installation – 10 units (the prevision of users is from 1.500 to 2.000 people);

o Electric Energy and water source to be used by the Medical Mobile Unit.

LOGISTIC STRUCTURE – Vehicles furnished by privates
and by Social Action Secretariat of Salvador
One bus will be used to transport the invited needy people to participate in the event, during the following time:
o 13:00h => Calçada - Praça da Sé
o 13:40h => Fonte Nova - Praça da Sé
o 21:00h => Praça da Sé – Calçada
o 21:40h => Praça da Sé - Fonte Nova

MEDICAL ASSISTENCE – Healthy Secretariat
During the morning free Medical Assistance is given to adults and children in street situation, in the Mobile Medical Unit.
The “teeth brush structure” is opened to usage, where the youngest have fun, learning about Mouth Hygiene and brushing habits, receiving teeth brushes and dental cream.

DIVULGATION
o We use a car with speaker on it, one day before the event – Friday to Saturday - driving around the Historic Center (Av. Sete, Carlos Gomes, Baixa dos Sapateiros, Calçada e Fonte Nova);
o Radio Stations, TV, Newspaper and similar free divulgation;

o Evangelic Churches Mural and Trade Establishments;
o Panphlets.

COORDENATION AND VOLUNTEERS
The General Coordination is done by Missão Batista do Pelourinho, an Entity without lucrative aims that has worked for 15 years with Social Action.

The biggest collaborators are Evangelic Churches from the most different denominations, forming a multidiscipline technical body, composed by Professional in different areas.
